Named Cinq Cents in 75 cl (25.4 fl.oz.) bottles, this beer, with its typical golden color, slightly hazy appearance and fine head, is especially characterized by its aroma which results from an agreeable combination of fresh hops and yeast. It was first brewed by the monks of Chimay at Scourmont Abbey in 1966. Above all it is the fruity notes of muscat and raisins that give this beer a particularly attractive aroma.

Riggwelter

Riggwelter

  • Strong Ale - English

  • Black Sheep, England

The fabled Riggwelter has grown to be one of our most loved cask ales and remains our most decorated beer having won numerous awards. Riggwelter takes its name from a local Yorkshire Dales farming term which has Nordic roots; “rygg” meaning back, and “velte” meaning to overturn. A sheep is said to be rigged or ‘riggwelted’ when it has rolled onto its back and is unable to get back up without assistance. What better name for a strong beer from the Black Sheep Brewery in Yorkshire, eh?! Riggwelter is a real showcase of hops, malt and yeast. Layers of chocolate and coffee are most prominent with dark fruits offering a sweet balance against the bitter roasted flavours. Our in-house strain of yeast provides more fruity esters including freshly peeled banana. Pouring a dark ruby colour and when served through a hand pull, there’s not many beers that can match Riggwelter’s beauty.

Big Black Mango Fruit & Licorice Sour Reality Fantasy You need to see it through when you get an idea you just can’t shake. And this is one of those ideas. Big Black Mango is a black sour beer with licorice and mango. Alluring, like an 80’s black light poster. Enticing, like a stroboscope. A bass drum and snare. Crash! Many years ago, we took inspiration from candy and brewed a one-off, 3,5% vol. beer called Black Apple. A black sour beer! An apple and licorice sour beer. It did not take long for that beer to become one of our most requested beers to bring back. So a few years later, we did another one-off, a bigger one. The new version was a 6% vol. Bigger, blacker, and applier. A beer placed somewhere between fantasy and reality. It still had all the properties of the original beer, just more of them. Since then, Big Black Apple has become a grail for many. So when it was time to bring back the apple beer, we thought it only appropriate to let it come back with a friend. That friend was Big Black Violet. And now, we’re extending the family even further! Big Black Mango is all you ever wanted in a fruit and licorice beer, and then some. Get ready. Wierd-good!

We have brewed a dark well hopped ale that we think respond well to the hearty and often rich Christmas foods. The combination of roasted flavors, dark chocolate and coffee meets cirtus flavors and aromas from the hops. This beer was awarded best draft beer in the category Ale up to 5.9% at the Stockholm Beer Festival in 2006 and bronze in 2008 and was named best Swedish bottled beer in 2008 and won the Swedish Ölfrämjandets Christmas beer testing in 2008, 2009 and 2010. 2009 it got the gold medal again at the Stockholm Beer Festival. Winter Ale was named the best Christmas beer at Örebro Beer & Whiskey festival 2009 . Malts: Pale ale malt, pale caramel malt, dark caramel malt, melanoidin malt and choclate malt. Hops: Centennial, Chinook och Cascade Food pairings Works particularly well with typical Swedish Christmas smorgasbord. Pickled herring, cured salmon and "Janssons Temptation" (potato, onion and pickled anchovies baked in cream). Meatballs, spareribs and sausages are also a staple at the Christmas table. Another great pairing would be port wine braised shoulder of lamb with garlic and herbs served with gnocchi.

This is our unique version of an ancient style. A style as old as the ocean trade routes of the last centuries of Great Ships. Not as old as the equator they had to cross twice enroute, nor as old as the 10,000 miles or so of Di-Hydrogen Oxide and Sodium upon which they sailed, but older than the Circulithium-4 Lentoid that binds the Lupulin Quartnate onto your taste buds. Weird. IPA has loads of “C” Hops balanced on a bed of fine English Crystal, Caramel & Munich Malts. Designed to pair well with food and pretty much everything else!
